![]() I mean lets face it, modern sample and hold displays like OLED need all the help they can get with motion, due to their inherent high motion blur and low motion clarity. Sat 5th Aug all the way(Although XSX and PS5 can easily handle boomer shooters at 120fps since they're not graphically demanding, at all)especially if you're a huge fan of high frame rates, like 144fps as it's essentially a 4 in one upgrade.Meanwhile, DOOM 64, Duke Nukem 3D World Tour and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil sit somewhere in the middle for me. 120fps, 4K, Haptics and Adaptive trigger support pwetty please. I just wish they'd get the same upgrades/treatment on PS5. In the end, as far as old school boomer shooter remasters go, I totally prefer DOOM, DOOM II & Power Slave over Quake. The next logical step forward would be to plunk it in VR. The sheer amount of options, upgrades and features makes it a must have for fans of the game. ![]() But i can still acknowledge how much effort was thrown into it. Something about it's depressing brooding hellish sulking atmosphere and mud colored dreary sterile-ish environments and music really bums me out. ![]() Switch version is still great though, and you have the luxury of playing in hand held and table top mode. I can't stress this enough.), doubles motion clarity, has 60 more fps for life-like buttery smooth motion as if you're looking through a window into a virtual game world(This is what you call NextGen special magic sauce) and cuts latency in half to 5ms, which makes the controls 2x as responsive as if you're nearly gaming on a CRT tube TV), Better haptics, adaptive trigger support, the same great gyro aiming as the Switch version, and is displayed in 4K too. Bests the Switch version(I've got both) as it supports 120fps(Creams 50% of OLED motion blur, which is a god send, like seriously. The PS5 port of Quake remastered is pefect. Included in this one is an enhanced version of Quake II, a brand-new 'Call of the Machine' campaign, local and online multiplayer, cross-play and (perhaps most exciting of all) it also includes Quake II 64 for free. Update : After many rumours and much speculation (see original article below), Quake II has just been released onto the Switch eShop - yes, it's available to download right now!įollowing on from the first game in the series which came to Switch back in 2021 (also shadow-dropped at QuakeCon, we might add), this sequel comes as part of a pretty meaty package.
